It was great meeting these lively young people for a birthday event in the woods. Lots of fun with fire, finding out about the woods, and archery. They ended the day with the challenge to light their own fire, which they did with no problem. Well not the best day to be out in the woods, cold and wet, but despite the weather we all had a great day in our Devon woodland. We taught fire lighting, cordage, archery, using an axe and some natural history. We hope this was a good introduction to bushcraft. No matter what the weather you can have a great time learning bushcraft skills. Thank you ladies for being such good learners.
Once more it was a privilege to teach some bushcraft skills on Saturday. There is nothing like being in a beautiful wood with great people. The woodland is now covered with emerging bluebells and lots of spring plants showing. The Elder is leafing and it really feels like spring is on the way.
